June 10th(Fri.) The Ryukyu Shimpo
Nelson Dominguez Exhibition was held until the 18th of June in SAERA Gallery in Okinawa.
He is one of the great Cuban contemporary artists and have received the Cuban National Honor Award of Art. He exhibited "A man with pigeon and a mask" (photo) and eleven other works including oil painting or printings. This is a good opportunity to know one of the most important Cuban artists in Japan.
This exhibition is focused on figurative and abstract portraits in which he expresses "aminism" factor on a mask or animals. The Carribean tropical theme is described in his works.
And a unique technique "mixed media" composed of powder of tire, sands and other materials with paints creates impressive shadows and colors.

Promo-Arte
Gallery, established in 1988, is the first and only
gallery in Japan to specialize in Latin American art and to offer exclusive representation
for its leading artists.
Located in Tokyo's trend-setting Omotesando neighborhood,
Promo-Arte Gallery is ideally situated at the crossroads of
contemporary culture and the arts. Today,
we are facing incredible changes in every field, including
culture and the arts.
Latin America was once considered a distant area from Japan,
but these days geographical distance need not cause any hindrance
to cultural exchange.
The diversity and ethnicity of Latin American art is now studied
worldwide by historians and scholars.
And it is our mission to make Latin American art accessible
to the Japanese art world as well.
