"Jacha
Fuji" - full energy from the
Andes
Many
Japanese people who come to the
exhibition ask the meaning of the
title "Jacha Fuji". Mount
Fuji is, for this people, a sacred
icon. Mamani explains: "The
theme 'mountain' is a relation of
union between two cultures, Japan
and Andes. Mountains are sacred
for us too, they are 'god'. Besides
that, there are many other similarities
between these two cultures".
Mamani is in Tokyo, invited by JETRO
for "Bolivia, Paraguay and
Uruguay exhibition" and is
now showing 37 works in our gallery. |

| Proud of
his Aymaran descent, Mamani depicts the
spirit and colors characteristic of the
Aymaran art in his paintings, however abstracting
forms found in nature. His works are contemporary,
and still exhale the memories of his ancestors,
engraved in the DNA of his roots. |
